Compulsive overeating is a horrible disease: it's unhealthy, it can even kill you. But the urge to eat is not only healthy - it's vital to life itself. The same is true of every negative phenomenon. There is nothing intrinsically bad in G-d's world: every evil is a perverted good, every psychosis a healthy instinct gone awry.
There are no less than three versions as to the sequence of the events surrounding the making of the Sanctuary and the sin of the Golden Calf. These different interpretations of the Torah's account--put forth by the Zohar, Rashi and Nachmanides--revolve around the question: Who can make a "dwelling for G-d in the physical world"? The perfect tzaddik? The unique personality of the baal teshuvah? Or even the iniquitous rashah?
Little Isaac was startled in the midst of his song by the regal, bearded Jew who appeared suddenly from behind him. "What are you doing here, little boy?" the man asked gently. "Helping my mother by tending to our geese," Isaac answered.
G-d believes in marriage. Not only does He believe that you should be married, He wants you to be married to the person you are married to. If G-d doesn't play dice with atoms or molecules, He certainly doesn't play dice with hearts or minds or souls. When G-d created your soul, He created your "intended" along with you. Why, then, does He allow you to get divorced? Not only allows it, but tells you how to do it?
Yesterday's dreamer is an extinct breed. In those days, imagination meandered like a ship on a leisure cruise. At its best, it looked like an archer shooting arrows in all directions, hoping to spear some secret information. Thinking he has hit the target, he runs to the spot where he believes the prey has fallen and meets with a mirage. He repeats his attempt over and over again and yet never seems to be disappointed.
