Rabbi Mendel Kaplan is the Spiritual Leader and Executive Director of Chabad Flamingo in Thornhill, Ontario, serving one of Canada’s most dynamic Jewish communities. He also serves as Chaplain of the York Regional Police Service. He is an active member of Toronto’s Vaad HaRabbanim (Council of Orthodox Rabbis), and a voting member of the COR Kashruth Council of Canada’s executive rabbinical board. Rabbi Kaplan is featured regularly on many local television and radio shows. He is a sought after speaker, with hundreds of lectures on Chabad.org. He and his wife, Faygie, are blessed with eight children. Artistically endowed, the rabbi enjoys drawing, sketching and creating charcoal portraits.

Blessings ChaBaD.org and the wonderful variation of teaching approaches has enabled myself, and many more individuals, to draw closer to HaShem with a deeper more meaningful relationship and understanding of HaShems will.

It Is Extremely Essential The mitzvah to educate is probably the most important mitzvah of all. I was not educated as a child, like what the kohamin prescribed. But I made up for the lost as a child, to do it as an adult. I got a Master's Degree. and became a regular at a synagogue. At the synagogue, I learned about the content of the Siddur and Talmud, and details pertaining to cleanliness, such as hand washing before meals, and the different levels of kashrut. Learning is a process we go through our entire lives. What can be more essential? Reply
